Getting started
- Install the add-on from the Google Workspace Marketplace.
- Open any spreadsheet in Google Sheets™.
- Use the add-on's menu in the spreadsheet to open the calculator sidebar.
- Pick one of the six calculators, type your numbers into the sidebar, and read the results instantly. Nothing is calculated from your spreadsheet's cells — inputs are typed into the sidebar only.
The six calculators: Rental Property ROI, Freelance Tax Estimator, Break-Even, Mortgage Payoff, Profit Margin & Markup, and Savings Goal. All six compute free, unlimited, forever.
Saving reports
Click "Save report to sheet" in the sidebar to append a formatted report of the calculation — your inputs and the results — to a sheet named "VF Calculator Reports" inside the spreadsheet you have open. On the free tier, report saving works for Rental ROI and Break-Even. A Pro license key unlocks report saving for all six calculators and adds a one-line summary of each save to a "Calculator History" sheet.
Pro license key help
- Where to buy: Pro keys are a one-time $19 purchase sold through the Vickery Finance shops on Gumroad and Etsy. Pro is not sold through Google, and there is no subscription.
- Activating: paste your key into the license field in the sidebar and activate. One key activates Pro for one Google account.
- Key not accepted: check for leading/trailing spaces when pasting, and make sure you are signed into the Google account you want Pro attached to. Keys are case-insensitive checksums validated locally in the add-on — no server is involved, so a key that fails is almost always a copy/paste issue. If it still fails, email us your order receipt and we will reissue the key.
Troubleshooting
- Sidebar does not appear: reload the spreadsheet tab, then reopen the add-on from the menu. If you use multiple Google accounts in one browser, make sure the spreadsheet is open under the account that installed the add-on.
- "Save report" does nothing: the add-on can only write to the spreadsheet it is running in. Confirm the sidebar is open in the same spreadsheet you expect the report in, and look for the "VF Calculator Reports" tab at the bottom of that file.
- A result looks wrong: these are educational planning calculators with simplified assumptions — see the note on the numbers in the Marketplace listing. If a calculation itself looks broken, email us the inputs you used and we will check it.
